Prudent Ladies Club UK
Building a community website for a UK membership organisation centred on the values of Honour and Grace.

Overview
The Prudent Ladies Club UK is a membership organisation for women built around the motto Honour and Grace. The club needed a home on the web where members could find information, connect with the community, and prospective members could understand what the organisation stands for before applying to join.
The challenge
The client had no existing digital presence. The brief was to create a site that felt warm and credible rather than corporate or generic, and that could be managed independently by non-technical staff after handover. It also needed to handle membership enquiries without a full custom backend, keeping ongoing costs and maintenance overhead low.
What I built
I chose WordPress as the foundation, not as a shortcut, but because it genuinely fits the brief: the club's team can edit pages, publish news, and update member information without touching code. I built a custom theme from scratch to give the site its own identity rather than looking like an off-the-shelf template.
- ·Custom WordPress theme built around the club's colour palette and tone of voice
- ·Membership enquiry flow with form-to-email so the committee receives structured applications
- ·Events section for the club calendar, editable without developer involvement
- ·Mobile-responsive layout so the site works on any device
- ·Performance and accessibility pass before handover with Lighthouse scores above 90 across the board
Outcome
The site launched on time and has been self-managed by the club ever since handover, with no ongoing developer dependency. It serves as the organisation's public face and primary channel for membership enquiries.
